Practical Faith

Growing up in faith based churches, I used to think of faith as some ultra-religious mechanism for Christians to exercise when they wanted God to do something in their lives. I believed faith was employed by meditating on any of God's promises, maintaining a holy life style, and reciting enough scriptures to eventually convince oneself that it's God's will to have whatever it is you desire and hence, believe it into existence. It almost seemed like a magic book where you could make anything come true, even if it wasn’t what God had for you in life or at a specified time.

As I've moved away from 'super religion' and have become more in tune with my own inner spirituality, I've since received a more practical and personal perspective on faith. Faith for me is recognizing that something has been placed in my heart and having the courage to not only believe in its authenticity, but to achieve/obtain it. So often we go through life ignoring an inner voice that tells us to move in a specific direction. Most likely it is fear that paralyzes our forward movement, and it’s utterly amazing that we choose to fear loss or failure while the possibilities of gain are endless.

I’ve learned that faith doesn’t have to be a super-religious concept. It is very practical, present and relevant to all of us right now, no matter your choice of religion or the intensity of your spiritual walk. However, I do believe that if you continuously follow your inner voice it WILL ultimately lead you to the heart of God.

  1. I love this post! This is so very true. I hate having discussions with people who believe what they do because they were taught to. They never educated themselves on other religions. To really understand that, Faith is more spiritual than religious.

    Good JOB!

  2. Nicely stated. I agree with your words completely. We need to get away from the "religion" and concentrate on the RELATIONSHIP with HIM. Loves it.

  3. Simply putted. I love the way you describe this "cliche" word. So many people have a hard time trying to understand it...I think that anyone who has some type of belief in a higher power will recognize that what your saying is TRUE!

    Good stuff girl!

    Back to work!
